What it is

Claude Cowork brings the way Claude Code works to non-coding work. Anthropic says you describe an outcome, step away, and come back to finished files: documents, spreadsheets with working formulas, slide decks, and research write-ups. Claude works in the folders and tools you choose, can open a built-in browser to read pages and fill forms, splits big jobs into parts that run together, and can run scheduled tasks in the cloud with no device online.

Plugins bundle skills, connectors, and sub-agents for a role or team. You pick how much Claude asks before it acts: Manual (asks for each action), Auto (Claude’s safety check reviews each action and blocks unsafe ones), or Skip (no checks, which Anthropic says to use only when you trust everything involved).

Best sales uses

Anthropic’s page has a “Claude Cowork for sales” section and one example that is squarely sales: point Claude at a quarter of call notes and get back a memo on where each open deal stands, what the customer said was blocking it, and which objections keep coming up, each quoted from its note. That is Anthropic’s example, not our result.

  • Objection roll-up from your own call notes, with the source note for each item.
  • Weekly pipeline readout on a schedule, built from a folder of exports.
  • Account research file for a list of accounts, with a column for sources you can check.

Who it’s for

AEs, managers, and CSMs who already keep notes and exports in files, and owners who sell and want a research or reporting job done while they work. Not for sending messages to customers on its own.

Setup effort

Easy to start, medium to make it routine. Start with one folder and one task. Scheduled tasks, plugins, and connectors take more setup.

Pricing (checked 2026-10-15)

  • Cowork is not sold separately. It comes with paid Claude plans: Pro is $20 a month, or $17 a month with annual billing ($200 up front); Max starts at $100 a month with 5x or 20x the Pro usage.
  • Team and Enterprise include it. Anthropic lists Enterprise at $20 per seat per month plus usage billed at API rates, billed annually.
  • Usage limits apply, and agentic tasks use more of them than chat.

Caveats

  • Real actions. Anthropic’s help page says Cowork can take real actions on your files and in connected tools and has “unique risks due to its agentic nature and internet access.” Review plans before approving, especially with sensitive files.
  • Deletes need your OK. Anthropic says Claude asks permission before permanently deleting files.
  • Computer use is a research preview, per Anthropic’s product page.
  • Cloud sessions are in beta on Team and Enterprise plans.
  • Call notes are people’s words. Don’t feed in recordings or transcripts unless you had consent to record and your company allows it. See Safe Use.

What we couldn't verify

  • Team plan seat prices. Anthropic's pricing page names the plan and features but the price did not show in what we could read.
  • How well Cowork handles real call notes. The objection-analysis example is from Anthropic's own page.
  • Whether the unified 'Cowork is now just Claude' experience has reached your account. Anthropic says it is rolling out gradually, so menus may differ from this page.
  • Cost of a typical task. Anthropic says multi-step tasks use more of your usage than chat and gives no fixed message count.
